Trailblazer Books

"Can't stop readin' 'em!"

This award-winning series features action-packed historical fiction introducing young readers (ages 8-13) to great Christian heroes. Each page-turning book portrays a significant period in a hero or heroine's life and ministry as seen through the eyes of a young person 11 to 15 years old.

A page in the front of each book explains exactly what is fiction and which events and characters are historical, and a "More About" chapter at the end provides a brief biographical overview of the Christian hero's whole life along with resources for further reading.

As authors, we want kids to learn about pioneer missionaries and other important people in Christian history ... and have fun doing it. The fact that the series has sold 1.7 million copies demonstrates the avid reception by the kids.

There are 40 books in the series. By clicking on the "Trailblazer Books" button to the right, you will be taken to www.trailblazerbooks.com where you will find a summary of each book, plus the first chapter, a short biography about the hero, and additional links for further research. The site also includes a world map showing where each story happens plus a timeline of when it took place in history.

Some of the original books are out of print, but Bethany House Publishers has been re-releasing them in omnibus version, with five Trailblazer novels in each larger volume. For more information click HERE.

Homeschoolers, particularly, have been enthusiastic fans of the Trailblazers because they provide opportunity for unite studies. Bethany House, our publisher for this series, has recently begun releasing Curriculum Guides for the series. Click on the button to learn more.

Why historical fiction? From time to time parents ask us why we wrote this series as historical fiction rather than as straight biographies. The "Why Fiction?" button will take you to a page explaining our reasoning.

Writing seminars for kids. We have enjoyed teaching day-long writing seminars to kids around the country. We try to schedule no more than six of these per year since our main work is writing, but if you are interested in arranging for one in your area, click on "Seminars."
